CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A stretch of cooler-than-average weather is settling in as we head into the weekend, and it will stick around for a bit before temperatures slowly begin to climb again next week.

Looking ahead, the next main chance for more organized precipitation is expected to arrive over the weekend. That means outdoor plans for Memorial Day celebrations could be impacted, especially if you’re planning barbecues, camping trips, or outdoor ceremonies. Saturday into Sunday appears to be the window for the most widespread rain, although timing and amounts will get more into focus as we get closer to the weekend.
Despite the gray and cool pattern, there’s a silver lining. As we move into next week, we’re expecting a gradual warming trend. That should help bring temperatures back closer to seasonal norms and hopefully allow for some sunnier stretches just in time for the latter part of the holiday.
