Before a late-season match-up between the 8-4 Kansas City Chiefs and 6-6 Las Vegas Raiders, the team donning black and silver thought it’d be a good idea to dance on the Chiefs’ midfield logo during warmups for whatever reason. The moment went viral, especially when the Raiders lost in humiliating fashion and got drubbed 48-9.
Chiefs fans were initially angry about the Raiders doing this but clearly, it served as motivation. When it was all said and done, the Raiders players probably regretted their actions. Years later, former Raiders running back (and current Packers running back) Josh Jacobs reflected on the logo dancing while appearing on Bussing With the Boys and couldn’t help but cringe.
“I told them ‘Do not do that s–t. It’s dumb. We are their stepbrothers.’ We are the little brother at that point. We ain’t beat them enough to reserve that right. We’re not even winning enough to deserve that right to go do that. It was dumb because I didn’t go do it. I stayed back. I said, ‘They’re not finna catch me on that motherf—ing logo.’ And we lose,” Jacobs said.
“My exact words were ‘If you’re gonna do that, you better stand on s–t.’ I’m like, ‘We better win.’ ‘Cause you can’t do s**t like that and not win. We got blown out. I was hot in the locker room.”
Josh Jacobs shreds Raiders for dancing on Chiefs logo like fools
As mentioned, the Chiefs went on to win that game by a score of 48 to 9, with the Raiders’ only points coming in the second and third quarters (they trailed 35-3 at halftime).
The year prior, the Raiders had won at Arrowhead and went on to circle the stadium in their team buses, celebrating as though they had won the Super Bowl (which, for them, they kind of did, I guess, so congrats?). This clearly made them feel invincible despite their 6-6 record at the time.
Well, after this drubbing, the Chiefs played “The Wheels on the Bus” over the speakers to really get their message through. Epic trolling on the Chiefs’ end.
As for Jacobs, it’s good to see that he had the right idea about all of this. Dancing on an opposing team’s logo is a stupid idea, no matter who the team is. Doing so against a team that’s won a Super Bowl in recent years and had your number is even more idiotic. At least Jacobs recognized that.
