The death of a man found inside a submerged car Monday at the Joseph Bartholomew Golf Course in Pontchartrain Park was determined to be a homicide, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office announced Wednesday.
Patrick Prosper, 24, died after he was shot, according to the office’s preliminary ruling.
On Monday, a car was pulled from the lake at Pontchartrain Park around 4 p.m. Video from WWL showed a body inside the vehicle, and officials, at the time, ruled the death as unclassified.
Prosper’s death was still listed as an “unclassified death” as recently as Wednesday morning, an NOPD spokesperson said.
Police have not shared any further information about Prosper’s killing but the investigation is ongoing.
